Group Classes
Classes are held at different locations each week, which exposes the dog to a variety of different search environments. They are held at different public locations such as parks, shopping centers, libraries, and community centers. Each location has unique characteristics to challenge your dog. Exposure to "search anytime, anywhere" creates a strong search dog—one who is confident searching in many different environments.
Introduction to Nose Work Classes
These classes introduces your dog to the sport of canine scent work and introduces you, the handler, to the ways that your dog communicates scent movement and location. During these classes, your dog will search for food or toys. As a team, you will be exposed to a wide variety of odor problems in a number of different types of searches, including containers, interiors, vehicles, and exteriors. Along the way, you’ll learn how to read your dog’s body language, how your body language communicates meaning to your dog, and how to maneuver as a team. This series is designed to build a strong team foundation and a dog who is motivated to search independently and with drive and essential problem-solving skills.
Odor Classes
These classes start with introducing your dog to three target odors, sweet birch, anise, and clove. Having a strong foundation from the Introduction to Nose Work series allows you and your dog to progress rapidly to the point that you are ready for your Odor Recognition Tests and, if desired, competition. As you advance, you will work on more advanced skills, leash handling, and advanced problem solving with your dog.
